DAILY NOTES

05/12/03- A great game - a great ending! The combination of Hudon (innings 1 through 4) and Hawley (5-7) had the Redmond batters very confused! Pictures and stats posted

05/09/03- A great game-lousy ending :-(  Brenda pitched very well, only 2 walks and 5 hits with 5 K's in 8 innings. And Trish hit a long home run. Pitchers and stats posted

05/08/03- Error in Juanita stats corrected. And a DISCLAIMER: the stats are very unofficial. I make an attempt to make them accurate- but they are NOT double-checked against the official book!

05/07/03- Pictures and stats posted.

The JV game starts at 3:45 or 4PM- followed by the Varsity game at 6pm.  Varsity parents should come early to support our JV team-and to see Ballard's future!  And JV parents should stay late and support the Varsity.  Let's hope this will be a WIN-WIN situation!

04/22/03- Lauren Curtis update- Lauren continues to ROCK!!! 3 time CAA Rookie of the Week

Lauren Curtis

Harrisonburg, Va., April 22, 2003 – James Madison University softball player freshman Lauren Curtis (Seattle, Wash./Ballard) has been named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.

Curtis earns her second straight rookie honor and third of the season after going 10-for-17 at the plate (.588) last week, including 7-for-10 in a CAA series against Towson.  All 10 of her hits were singles as she recorded two or more hits in four of five games, including all three games against the Tigers.

She now has 19 multiple-hit games this season.  Curtis moved into the lead in the CAA in both hits (60) and batting average (.405).

Previous Winners: 2/26 Lindsay Jones, Delaware; 3/17 Lauren Curtis, JMU; 3/26 Tara Ulrich, Hofstra; 3/31 Tara Ulrich, Hofstra; 4/7 Briana Carrera, JMU; 4/14 Lauren Curtis, JMU.

04/14/03- 14 HITS, stellar pitching, and a couple of great defensive plays combine to produce a 6-4 victory over arch-rival Roosevelt (coached by ex-Ballard coach Phil Taylor).

04/08/03- I will be taking Kimber for a final visit to Willamette on Thursday and Friday. We are leaving immediately after Wednesday's game against  Lake Washington (at Lower Woodland). So the pictures that I take of that game will not be posted until the weekend. And there will no pictures of Friday's game against Redmond (at Redmond-map updated below).

03/28/03- I will be out of town for Monday's game at Garfield- sorry, no pictures and stats will be posted after Wednesdays game with Inglemore

03/19/03- Several items: please note that the JV team has a schedule change: Redmond does not have a JV team (go figure!)- so the 2 games against Redmond have been cancelled for the JV only.

Secondly, last year's Varsity center fielder Lauren Curtis is off to a fantastic start in her collegiate career at James Madison. See article below.
