Ballard gave up a tough loss today to Skyline starting with two unearned runs given up in the first inning and only 1 hit coming from Hallie Hemmingsen through the first 5 innings as the Ballard girls struggled to adjust to a slower pitcher than they are used to facing. They made a strong comeback in the 6th with Tara French reaching on a Skyline error, advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alyssa Meyer, moving on to third on a passed ball and finally scoring the Beavers first run on a sacrifice bunt - squeeze play laid down by Emily Gussin. Trisha Perrin kept the momentum going with a triple rocketed to right field. Getting nervous, the Skyline team showed some respect to Hallie Hemmingsen by giving her an intentional walk. This brought up Gretchen Gray who singled up the middle to bring Trisha home and a single by Laura Zanzig brought in Hallie Hemmingsen to give the Beavers a 3-2 lead. We held our ground until the bottom of the 7th but Skyline came back with another run to win the game
